Challenge des 4 vents: Medine Group lifts this year’s Challenge Trophy
This fourth edition of the annual cycling competition that pulls together the main actors of the cane industry, that is Alteo, Medine, Omnicane and Terra, ended on Sunday the 2nd of September in Belle Vue. The Medine Group made it big this year by lifting the Challenge Trophy that rewards the best team overall.
With the race moving around the island starting with the Grand Prix de Medine and drawing to its conclusion with the “Grand Prix de Terra”, Jenni Will Smith, Satish Mattapullut and Eric Fidèle from Medine’s Agriculture cluster, Jean Phillippe Ribot from Uniciti Education Hub and Jerry Live Pan from Concorde delivered an exceptional performance. This last 22km race was a tough one for the team, who was assured of at least a third place before the competition began. Finally, the game plan this year was to head towards a great win!
Jean Will Smith, from Medine Agriculture and renowned Mauritian sports elite, explains: “This year we all discussed about how we would approach the different stages of the ‘Challenge des quatre vents’ and even if the yellow jersey is not ours, we are very proud of having been able to achieve our team objective.”
The team has a special thought for their fellow partner Rishi Chundee from Medine Agriculture who could not be on the podium.
